It’s easy to see why many people enjoy container gardening. There are so many advantages to this method of growing, including being able to grow exotic plants that you wouldn’t normally be able to find in the ground. Because it allows you to transplant and repot many times each year, you save money on supplies because the cost is very low. Plus, you have a great assortment of flowers, vegetables, herbs, fruits, and more to choose from.
Many people who use these pots also love using 15 gallon nursery pots and bowls. However, if you’re growing larger plants, you need to make sure that you have plenty of room in your grow box. These pots and buckets will allow you to grow whatever you want, but most people grow roses, herbs, squash, and tomatoes in these. Because the pots are so large, sometimes they aren’t the best choice for certain areas of your garden. Some people even choose to have a raised bed instead of containers. Here are some simple ways that you can extend the life of your containers and grow boxes by using these pots instead:
Protect plants – By using larger 15 gallon nursery pots and bowls, you will be able to protect your larger plants from pests and other animals that might be attacking them. If your plants get dirty or mop the floor every day, you might only be able to keep them alive for a few days before they die. This is why you usually use large pots to begin with, because you didn’t really know how long you would be gone when you started. These pots will allow you to extend the life of your plants.
Make better use of space – Most people find that when they have a garden, they have a lot of space to dedicate to gardening. This is good, because you won’t have to deal with pests and animals that might destroy your garden. However, if you have a small patio or outdoor area, it might be difficult to get the same amount of gardening area, because your pots won’t be as large. If this is the case, you might want to consider having smaller pots and containers, or even going without pots at all.
Use trellis and not planting boxes – If you want to grow plants in pots and not on large planters, then you can use trellis to build your container garden. Trellis comes in many sizes, and if you grow plants in them, then you can move them around and repeat them whenever the soil gets dry. Planting boxes are great for container gardens, because they can be put up wherever you want, but they often don’t do as good of job covering a large area as a trellis will.
Use 5-gallon buckets for small containers – It used to be that nursery containers were simply labeled “5 gallon bucket”. Today, however, there are many containers that have labels on them such as “teapot”, “fruit spreader” and “dish”. If you stick with these smaller containers, then you will be limiting yourself to what you can grow. You can move the plants around and repeat them, but with a larger container such as a trellis, you can cover more area.
Use nursery pots that come in the form of planters – Planter pots are typically called “nursery containers”, but you can use any name you choose. These are the kind of containers you would use to plant seeds, because they are the most traditional form of container gardening. It doesn’t matter if you are using herbs, vegetables, fruits, flowers or herbs and vegetables, you can use container gardening with planters and 15 gallon nursery pots to make your own home garden.
